Our Journey Begins

Kia ora and welcome to Tākitimu Films! We're thrilled to share our story with you.

More than just a video production company, we embody a spirit of adventure and a commitment to capturing and sharing narratives that resonate.

Just like the legendary Tākitimu waka, we navigate challenges with determination, creativity, and a touch of daring.

Join us as we explore the world of visual storytelling.

The Tākitimu story

Our name, Tākitimu Films, pays homage to the Tākitimu Mountains, named after the famed Tākitimu waka that capsized at Te Waewae Bay.

This waka, commanded by Tamatea-Ure-Haea, journeyed from the North Island down the east coast of the South Island, embodying a spirit of exploration and resilience.

The mountains stand as a reminder of facing challenges head-on, a value we hold dear at Tākitimu Films.

We strive to approach every project with the same courage and determination, ensuring stories are told with impact and authenticity.

A passion reborn

Tākitimu Films emerged from a moment of profound reflection.

Our founder, Janine, after years in other roles, realised her true calling was in the art of storytelling through video.

Inspired to return to her original passion, Janine envisioned a company dedicated to restoring narratives.

Tākitimu Films is more than just a business; it's a manifestation of a renewed commitment to creativity, collaboration, and the power of visual media.
